From Sunday 4 October to Thursday 8 October, the High Water team joined water professionals from around the world at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2026. Bringing together expertise from across the global water sector, the event offered a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas, explore new technologies and build relationships with people working to shape the future of water.
From promising conversations about future partnerships to fascinating insights into the latest industry developments, we came away with plenty to reflect on. And, of course, a few memorable moments away from the exhibition floor, too.
Connecting across the water sector
Some of the most valuable moments at industry events happen away from the presentations themselves: in conversations, shared experiences and the connections made along the way.
Throughout the week, we met people from across the water sector, reconnected with industry contacts and explored opportunities for future collaboration. These conversations gave us the chance to exchange perspectives, learn more about the challenges others face and discuss how different areas of expertise can work together.
At High Water, collaboration is central to how we approach projects. Whether we’re providing temporary water control, specialist equipment or engineering support, understanding the wider needs of a project helps us develop practical solutions tailored to the challenges at hand.
Building relationships across the industry helps us continue to do that, and we’re looking forward to seeing where the conversations started in Glasgow lead.
Exploring the future of water
IWA also offered fascinating insights into the innovations and technologies shaping the future of the water sector.
With organisations and specialists from around the world sharing their work, there was plenty to discover. The event provided an opportunity to learn about new approaches, explore emerging technologies and gain fresh perspectives on the challenges facing water infrastructure.
As the demands on water infrastructure continue to evolve, innovation and collaboration will remain essential to finding effective, sustainable solutions. For us, staying connected with developments across the sector is an important part of understanding the bigger picture and continually looking for better ways to support our clients.

A little Scottish culture
Of course, it wasn’t all business!
Wednesday evening brought a fantastic opportunity to experience some Scottish culture, with a pipe band, traditional dancers and plenty of Highlander outfits making an appearance. We also made the most of the photo booth, creating a few memories to take home from Glasgow.
It was a brilliant evening filled with laughter and a welcome chance to spend time together outside the conference. With people travelling from across the world to attend IWA, it was also a reminder that bringing the water community together is about more than technology and projects. It’s about the people behind them.

Taking the conversations forward
Our time at IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2026 was a fantastic experience. We returned with valuable new connections, potential partnerships, fresh perspectives and plenty of ideas to take forward.
A huge thank you to everyone we met throughout the week and to the organisers for bringing together such a diverse community of water professionals in Glasgow.
It was a pleasure to be part of it, and we’re looking forward to building on the relationships made and continuing the conversations started in Glasgow.
